Yeah, well, it kinda rhymes - gimme a break!
Thanks to Bobavey for reminding me <ahem> that I said I would hook up my brand new 20.1 inch widescreen LG monitor this weekend! It's sooooooo nice to be rid of the piece of shit loaner I've been using since I got this new computer several years ago. I don't think I'll ever need a horizontal scroll bar again! Heck, my video card won't even go to as high a resolution as this baby allows. I think I'm going to have to actually break out the manual for a few settings, though.
First it was the sunscreen and mosquito repellent, then this evening I bought a couple of bathing suits. I can't believe I found not one, but two that I liked. Not only that, but that one was already on super deep discount sale, and the other was 30% off - a "tonight only" sale that I lucked into. I'm glad that LBA told me that I would need more than one suit. Anyway, I'm surprised I didn't fall to the floor and curl up into a wailing fetus while going through this depressing exercise, but it appears that miracles do indeed happen. Man, after all of this we'd better damn well find a trip to go on.
How annoying. I am only going to post links instead of actual pictures because I don't want vox to crash FF with every pic I try to upload, but I also don't want to switch over to IE.
I'm looking around for a funky sleeve for my laptop. For the most part, they seem to be either icky neoprene, terribly expensive (which I just don't understand), or only for macs. So far, I have found:
Curly Q, in either plum or black
JanSport in Black/Carbonic Punky Houndstooth
Those are some I've come across so far that I like and that are reasonably priced. What do you think? Have you seen any cool sleeves around?
Hey guys - I got an email from My Favorite Mirror with a link to a survey. When you take the survey, you get a code for 15% off your purchase. To be honest, I didn't even fill anything in for the survey; I just hit "next" for the three or four pages of the survey. It let me and I got the code. I don't know if it can tell if you've taken the survey or not. If you want to try without taking it, the code is "youtellme", without the quotation marks. Take a look at these coasters from their "what's new" section, and there's a sale section as well, with things like this monkey pocket mirror.
Well hello there. I was all set to do a puppy post yesterday but then got distracted by doing nothing. It turns out I had two vacation days left to take, not just one, so I took yesterday off, and will be off this coming Monday. So I worked a total of three days this past week and it felt like ten times that. I was ready to blow, let me tell you. At least Boss was snapping at other people, too, and not just me.
The intention yesterday was to finish up my Christmas shopping so that I could pack everything up that needed to be mailed and get that done before I go back to work on Tuesday. A headache sidelined me yesterday (makes me wish I HAD drunk some rum and coke the night before, like I said I was going to do) so I didn't do much at all other than take pills, nap, and play on the computer. Today I went out and I'm pretty sure I'm now finished shopping, with the exception of something like lotto tickets to top off my mother and aunt's stockings. There's a big storm coming tonight so I'll spend tomorrow at home packing everything up, then I'll mail it all on Monday. Well, that's the plan, anyway. Knowing me it won't quite happen that way, but at least I'm thinking about doing it, right? I have managed to mail one parcel so far, and it even has a tracking number. I always get excited when I have something I can track, but I'm always disappointed because the website seems to be about a week behind. Supposedly it's updated at least once every 24 hours, but I have my doubts about that. For instance, the parcel that I mailed Thursday morning is still only showing as being taken in by the postal outlet I went to. To me, that means it's still sitting there, but I know that's not true. Oh well, as long as it gets where it's going.
Speaking of shopping, I got an email notice that my favorite mirror, whom I've mentioned here before, is having an overstock sale on pocket mirrors. As you can see from the last post about them, they sell more than pocket mirrors, so go have a look and see if there's anything you like!
Okay, that's it for now. My headache is coming back so I think I'll pop a handful of pills and take a little nap to help it go away. I promise there will be a puppy post sometime soon - I'm making a list (but I might not check it twice because it will just make me want to slit my wrists)!
p.s. hmmm, my links are doing the little preview thing now, which they never did before.... it started with the last vox update... coinkidink? I think not.
Hmmm, let's see. We had a two-hour mandatory webcast meeting today. It was the most boring meeting I have attended in, oh it's gotta be at least a year. It sapped the lifeforce out of every single one of us. Oh, and more people showed up than signed up so the food was spread thin. Later in the afternoon, Sortaboss and I had an hour-long conference call which was only mildly more interesting. The rest of the day was mixed with trying to get other work done in between these two snoozefests.
Haha, first thing this morning I asked Boss who the heck was gonna pay the tab from Friday night, and maybe we should take up another collection. Boss figures he'll have to do some creative expense reporting. I wish I knew how much it ended up totaling. Oh, and after getting one of the servers to box up the leftover pizza and wings, he left them there! I say he deserved his hangover on Saturday just for that.
I stopped at a mall on the way home tonight to buy, umm, socks. I figured I might as well end the day with a bang. My father's present is already being sent directly to him, but just for kicks (haha), I bought him some socks that I know he wants so that I'll have something to mail for him to open on Christmas. Trust me, he'll be thrilled. His usual ideas for me vary from year to year between socks, shirts, and belts. Oh, and the same for his birthday, but summerweight. Sigh. Luckily my sister and I usually go together and get him something a bit more interesting. Also, she refuses to buy him socks, shirts, and belts. They're exchanging chickens and goats this year, I do believe.
And speaking of my father. There was a package shoved into my mailbox today that was from him. It's the spices I asked him for that I can't get here. I sort of figured he'd just put them in with whatever gift cards he decides on for me for Christmas. I really didn't think it was necessary to actually say that to him. Apparently it was. And it probably cost him more in postage than the price of the actual spices. Oh well, more mail for arbed!
Back to the socks. I picked up a couple of pairs of
trouser socks for my mom's stocking. And while I was there, I found
this cute little pair of slippers for me. I'm not really a slipper
person, but I couldn't resist these. They're like little mary jane
footies and very soft. There are rubbery dots on the sole that make
these little "stick stick" noises as I walk, which I'm sure will wear
off soon enough. Actually, by the time I go to bed tonight, I figure
I'll be trailing enough hair and cat fur to make a new pair of slippers.
edit: for IG, here's a slipper - I tried to get edgar to sit with it, but no dice - they had tons to choose from, and to most, mine are probably the least cute, but I like them and that's all that counts, right? The colours suck because it's my camera phone - the cushion is sage green and the slipper is black and white/grey.
There's a spider in my kitchen but I can't get to him. Grrrrrr.
Shrek the Halls is on TV. There is a giant waffle Santa in Donkey's daydream. Oh, and now Puss is on! He's hilarious!
Okay,
time to post. I just figured you were all due for another one of my
pointless posts where you slap yourself for making it to the end. Ta!
This summer when my mother, my aunt, and I traveled to and from my sister's place, we stopped at various highway rest stops for bathrooms breaks, and the like. At one of them, we were surprised by this super duper air blaster of a hand dryer. It was loud and strong and dried your hands in seconds. It amused us and became a bit of a joke when we stopped at other bathrooms and had to deal with the "old-fashioned" slow dryers.
Anyway, I took today off to do a bit of Christmas shopping since I have a few vacation days left that I have to take. I went downtown and picked up a few things, then decided to stop and have lunch before I went off on a bus ride to another area of town. I went into a pub and had the most delicious caesar salad with grilled chicken - it had a nice garlicky dressing, big pieces of actual bacon, nice homemade seasoned croutons, and it was topped off by not powdered or grated, but SHAVED parmesan - it was heavenly.
Before heading out, I decided I'd better make a trip to the loo. Thank goodness the washrooms were downstairs and down a hall and that I was the only one in there because when I went to dry my hands, I burst out laughing. There was an even stronger version of the hand dryer from our summer excursion and I just kept giggling away while it did it's thing. I was all set to leave when I turned around and decided that I had to take a little video of this action. Have you ever seen that video of the people doing the naked skydiving? Check this out, and listen for my stifled giggle towards the end. This silliness made my day - I'm still giggling every time I watch it.
So, let's see. With my post below, I now have a copy of Mario's Super Galaxy up for grabs, and due to my sister's misreading of her own notes, I also have a spare never-opened box set of Family Guy's Volume Two (which is Season Three) DVDs. I could open my own shop. However, in all seriousness, if anyone wants to buy these, I'd even ship to you for free!
no time for a real post but I saw an ad for this place in my gmail this morning and I figured some of you would get a kick out of it
check them out (ignore the home page of beauty products - check out the other categories)
