How are you celebrating the 4th of July?

(I'm reminded of the morning radio show I listen to as I get ready for work: one guy says this morning "So it's the fourth of July in the US today...". I could barely keep myself from calling in to inform him that it's the fourth of July pretty much everywhere else, too. Oh, I should mention that I really quite dislike this guy, so I mentally pick or hate on pretty much everything he says.)

However, in lieu of said unsaid person, I do have lunch plans with the most fabulous LBA and LBJ on a pub patio down the street. It should be pretty deserted because a lot of people have taken today off, since tomorrow is Canada Day. I really wish people would quit referring to it as a long weekend, though. Unless you actually took vacation time and made it a long weekend, it was just a regular weekend, and a week with a day off in the middle of it.

Oh what to pick, what to pick? How about my sixth (or somewhere around there) birthday party where my father thought it was so hilarious to take his cigarette and pop the balloons I was holding onto, right in front of my face at my birthday party? Or wait, here's a good one from around age ten or eleven when I heard my father threaten to punch my mother's mouth to the other side of her head. Good times...
Hey, if they'd asked about good memories, I would have come up with some of those, too, so no dissing what I do say here.
What's making you smile today?
The fact that I haven't had any head pain serious enough to take anything for three days now.

Well, after having to get up at an ungodly hour this morning to get to the hospital for my CT scan, I can tell you when my favourite time isn't.
