I was unexpectedly near another pet store tonight. I wasn't planning on taking any pictures, but holy cow, how could I resist when I saw all of these lovelies? And I only took pics of half of them - I didn't want anyone to think I was too freaky... uh huh - and speaking of freaky, how come every time I stop to look at animals (usually kittens) at a pet store, someone of dubious mental powers is also there and insists on speaking to me? I mean, that's fine and all - I'll have a little convo with them or whatever, but every freaking time? Do you think that they're thinking the same thing about me???
so I went shopping today - and boy are my arms tired - oh wait, wrong joke - actually, it's my legs that are tired - I need to get a new pair of sandals or else wear my nike walkers when I go walk around like that for any length of time - my current sandals have served me well for many moons now and I'll be sad when they go, but they've more than outperformed their original cost and any fix-it money I've put into them - they're very similar to birks so I think I'll spring for a pair of those next
anyhoooo, I picked up a few things (baby stuff, clothes, eau de parfum) and amazingly didn't get overly depressed when I saw myself in the change room mirrors, but I think that's because I've decided to get busy and do something about my weight (well, what I'm able to do, seeing as some of the problem is my meds) - but that is a whole other story - I'm just glad that I didn't freak out at myself and want to break down in tears in the middle of the mall
any time I go to a mall, I head for the pet store and look at the fuzzies - today was no different and I snapped several shots just for you guys - raise your hands: who feels special?
these adorable buns were in a big glass aquarium (?) at the front of the store - this pic is taken looking down through the grate on top of their glass house - and yes, those are my feetsies - see the sandals? Why do buns always huddle together in a pet store - are they scared?
this little dude was fantastic - a teeny little tabby who just wouldn't keep still - he looked up at me for a split second when I took the pic, but he was really chasing the furry tail of the blob to the left of the pic - very sweet long-hair kitty that even had tufts sticking out of her ears - the other pic of her was the other one where I moved the phone too soon - it's funny, all of the animals look so much bigger in these pics than they actually are
little mister chameleon was cool - the big blobby eyes looking in different directions and the eyelids slowly blinking - their claws are neat too - four "digits" split like a vulcan greeting - he was maybe about eight or ten inches long, max
coupl'a degus - the one on the left was actually about half the size of the other one - kept trying to get/give kisses but the bigger one was having none of it
these two didn't move a muscle the whole time I was there - I think the blond one is a cocker and the other is a mix of some kind
this little three-pounder woke up long enough for me to snap a shot - I've grown to really like pugs, probably because sortaboss used to have one so I was always hearing cute stories
it was hard to
get a good shot of mr bengal here because he was never still for
more than a couple of seconds at a time - he was absolutely stunning,
but judging from his size, a fair bit older than the usual pet store
kitties - I would have guessed him closer to a year, maybe - oh, nice,
you can see a big ol' reflection of the camera in this shot
well, there you go - I always feel badly for animals in pet stores because they must be sooooooooo bored - I can only hope that they get taken home soon
My updated 'do is thanks to Mr. Gorey Design himself, Jay. Now these beautiful little kitties look even softer, and you can actually read my whole blog title. Now if only I had a notsofreakingcrappy monitor that didn't cut off the pink sidebars... anyone? anyone?
