the reality of a pandemic really hit home the last time I went on the local cemetery tour and realized that roughly 1/3 of the headstones were due to the flu pandemic of 1918 - when my city was relatively unpopulated. horrifying to imagine what it will be like when it, whatever it is, hits modern society. i've heard speculations that scare the hell out of me.

It's crazy the amount of antibiotic resistant bacteria we are "breeding", but it's nothing compared to some strange virus that is going to mutate among us. Human beings, overpopulating, crowding the Earth, are going to get hit by some crazy virus that none of us can do anything about. There will probably be genetic resistance to it. So, a percentage of humans will survive.
But, it will be DNA that proves the day. Not much else.
