baby it's cold outside
Well hello there. I was all set to do a puppy post yesterday but then got distracted by doing nothing. It turns out I had two vacation days left to take, not just one, so I took yesterday off, and will be off this coming Monday. So I worked a total of three days this past week and it felt like ten times that. I was ready to blow, let me tell you. At least Boss was snapping at other people, too, and not just me.
The intention yesterday was to finish up my Christmas shopping so that I could pack everything up that needed to be mailed and get that done before I go back to work on Tuesday. A headache sidelined me yesterday (makes me wish I HAD drunk some rum and coke the night before, like I said I was going to do) so I didn't do much at all other than take pills, nap, and play on the computer. Today I went out and I'm pretty sure I'm now finished shopping, with the exception of something like lotto tickets to top off my mother and aunt's stockings. There's a big storm coming tonight so I'll spend tomorrow at home packing everything up, then I'll mail it all on Monday. Well, that's the plan, anyway. Knowing me it won't quite happen that way, but at least I'm thinking about doing it, right? I have managed to mail one parcel so far, and it even has a tracking number. I always get excited when I have something I can track, but I'm always disappointed because the website seems to be about a week behind. Supposedly it's updated at least once every 24 hours, but I have my doubts about that. For instance, the parcel that I mailed Thursday morning is still only showing as being taken in by the postal outlet I went to. To me, that means it's still sitting there, but I know that's not true. Oh well, as long as it gets where it's going.
Speaking of shopping, I got an email notice that my favorite mirror, whom I've mentioned here before, is having an overstock sale on pocket mirrors. As you can see from the last post about them, they sell more than pocket mirrors, so go have a look and see if there's anything you like!
Okay, that's it for now. My headache is coming back so I think I'll pop a handful of pills and take a little nap to help it go away. I promise there will be a puppy post sometime soon - I'm making a list (but I might not check it twice because it will just make me want to slit my wrists)!
p.s. hmmm, my links are doing the little preview thing now, which they never did before.... it started with the last vox update... coinkidink? I think not.

Looking forward to Puppy news. lol
you weren't getting the preview popups before? i've had them for awhile now - maybe cause i'm a better tester. great feature, huh?
thanks for mentioning the lotto tix. I want to get a bunch of Jack In The Box antennae balls for coworkers (usually $1.49 each without food purchases) - and needed the reminder.
sorry to hear about the headaches. Hope they pass soon. Enjoy your Monday off - I'm insanely jealous about it.
Yeah I wouldn't mind Monday off but that ain't going to happen any time soon.
I have a bit of a headache, could be a lightweight beer dehydration hangover headache plus I probably slept funny. I hope yours is better. I had checked the box to have the popup preview linkies a while ago too. They weren't too annoying and no one complained so I left it.
If it's surface mail I don't think they really have too many checkpoints to track. For instance, if it's UPS and coming from CA, it will show up as having left the shipping point, then received at the main warehouse whereupon it leaves on a jet plane and then it gets to the next warehouse in the area in Philadelphia (for me) and then it will say out for delivery. But if it's coming by truck, which much of the regular mail does, it doesn't get updated because it just stays on the same truck the whole time till it's delivered. At least that was the experience I have had.
Yeah, what you say about the tracking makes sense, but that doesn't make up for the fact that I want it to be fun! It should be made into an Amazing Race competition: Your challenge this week is to trace arbed's parcel from it's starting point of X to it's final destination of Y. Be careful not to miss out on any of the points in between. The first team to correctly track the package and bring it to Phil at the final pitstop of the day will win a Travelocity all-expenses-paid trip to Canada in the dead of winter.
The preview thing is okay, I guess. I thought I was a beta tester but I didn't have the previews until the latest update so I guess I unsigned myself from being one. So far the only thing about it that bugs me is that I have to edit it when I post from home. My home posts always have to be posted then deleted then posted again after copying/pasting/editing because vox never takes the coloured font the first time for more than the first paragraph, so now in addition to that, I have to delete the little tv icon or it shows up in the final post a bajillion times.
Wow, can I whine any more?
hey it's your blob, you can whine if you want to.
I don't think you un-signed up for Beta testing. I remember having to specifically check a box for the preview thing. I don't remember if I just happened to notice it in the profile setting or if I read a Team Vox post that mentioned that option.
